Young Greek teachers’ debut lectures

July 2010

Four young dance teachers came from Athens

Four young teachers came from Athens to present their first lectures at the ISTD Worthing Congress. First to take the floor was Antonis Lithadiotis, who partnered by Anna-Zoi Giannelou, presented a variation in Cha Cha Cha. Next it was the turn of August Koumoulos to introduce his young partner, Iris Koraki after which the couple went on to show everyone a variation in Jive.

The four young teachers are all involved in Theatre genres as well as Dancesport and they demonstrate the closely integrated approach that is becoming the hallmark of ISTD schools in Greece.

Anna Giannelou achieves a first for Greece

May 2010

Having already successfully completed her ISTD Latin American Intermediate examination, Anna Giannelou made it her aim to take the same in Modern Ballroom. She completed this successfully in May 2010 at the Spirit of Dance ADC inn Athens, at an examination session conducted by ISTD examiner, Miss Margaret Connon.

Anna achieved this with the added distinction of being the first person to do so world-wide. This challenging examination included both set and unset amalgamations from the Grade 5/Silver syllabus in Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Tango, together with partnered dancing in each of the dances and also in Rhythm dancing and Viennese Waltz.

The practice of the work in these areas, together with the understanding of the syllabus of individual figures and the different ways they may be danced provided Anna with an absorbing period of study and one which, she feels has given her an excellent insight into the FDI and Licentiate qualifications.
